LOUIS van Gaal certainly inspires loyalty from his players.
Daley Blind, signed from Ajax last summer after a decent World Cup, is certainly willing to trust a man who has managed him for club and country.
The Dutch utility player is confident ahead of the new season based on the momentum picked up towards the end of the last campaign.
And the improvement he puts down to the all-knowing nature of United’s coach.
“At the start of the [last] campaign we were mainly building the team, but if you look to the second half of the season we were doing well,” he told FourFour Two.
“Louis van Gaal sees everything, and what he says always comes true. Many times we won matches on details which he had practiced in training beforehand.
“If you look at the home games against Spurs (3-0) and Manchester City (4-2), and the away match against Liverpool (1-2), you’ll see that we gave away very few chances. Defensively we were well organised and knew exactly what to expect.”United side looking to be defensively organised when they kick off their Premier League campaign next Saturday against Spurs.
Van Gaal confirmed that he knows three of the four defenders that will line up in his starting XI at Old Trafford against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
“I think I shall play [Luke] Shaw with [Matteo] Darmian, and with Daley Blind,” he said after the PSG defeat.
“The right central position I have to consider.”
