Former senator representing Abia Central senatorial district, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu has said that she left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP because the party lost focus and did not allow her to exercise her franchise.
Nwaogu made this remark in a speech marking her defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC in Umuahia, Abia State capital.
Nwaogu said that she joined the APC to help move the party, state and the nation forward and commended the state leaders of the APC for holding the party together.
“I promise to be loyal to the party. I have come to support the party and not to take over. I’m here to work with you to move the party, state and Nigeria forward. We need to collectively build and reposition APC in Abia state. We must be the agents of change Nigerians crave for. I will help to build APC to an enviable height”.
Chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, while describing Nwaogu as a political heavy weight, said that her defection marks a turning point for the party in the state.
He said the APC’s doors are open to reputable politicians as the party is desirous of taking her rightful place in the politics of the state.
