Wikki Tourists head coach Abdu Maikaba has said that he has corrected the errors noticed in his team and that there won’t be a repeat of the performance recorded against Heartland when they trade tackles today at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi .
The Bauchi side fell like a pack of cards at the Rojenny Stadium, Oba two weeks ago as they were hammered four goals by the Naze Millionaires – the first time they conceded up to that figure this season.
Maikaba stated that the players were not that motivated ahead of the match and that the scores won’t have been that alarming if they were paid their entitlements. The coach confirmed that the players were yet to receive the winning bonuses for their nine matches two months salary arrears.
“It was a defeat and a scoreline we never expected in Oba. We were thinking that we would get at least a point from that encounter, but the result was highly unexpected. We knew what went wrong against Heartland, it is not to be discussed in the media. We have gone back home and have considered the factors responsible for our collapse and we have worked seriously on them,” Maikaba said.
He continued: “We want to avenge our loss to Heartland during the first stanza and I promise you that there won’t be any slip up this time. We have gone through a lot but the players have assured me that all will be well on Sunday.
“I also want to appeal to the Bauchi State Government to see to the payment of the two months salary arrears and the match bonuses too, so that the players can be happy and continue doing what they know how to do best. We have the objective of putting smiles on the faces of the state at the end of the season by winning the league or qualifying for the continent but everyone must play his part if our ambition would not be derailed.”
