A 24-year-old woman, Nwakaego Ugochukwu, was arraigned in Lagos on Tuesday for sexually molesting a five-year-old girl in her residence.

The accused, a factory worker, who resides at Canal Estate, Ago Okota, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge bordering on sexual assault before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The Prosecutor, Insp Eruada Victor, told the court that the accused on May 5, 2016, took the child to her residence where she sexually assaulted the five-year-old girl.

According o the prosecutor, the woman, who lives on the same street with the girl, repeatedly dipped her fingers into the private part of the five-year-old girl.

He added that the matter was reported to the police after the victim confessed to her parents that the accused inserted her fingers into her private part.

The offences, the prosecutor said, contravened Sections 259 and 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mr E.O. Ogunkanni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case till June 15 for hearing. (NAN)
