A 24-year-old woman, Favour Nwaneri, was on Friday arraigned in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly inflicting injury on one Agusi Jennifer .
The defendant of Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, was docked on a charge of causing grievous hurt, an offence she denied committing.

The prosecutor, Ikem Uchegbulam, told the court that Jennifer of Tipper Garage, Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Jan. 28.
He said that ‎the defendant acted in a violent manner without any provocation and inflicted deep cuts on the complainant with a razor blade on the said date.

He added that the defendant injured the complainant on her hand and leg, and she was taken to Kubwa General Hospital, where she spent N37, 000 for treatment.

The offence contravened Section 247 of the Penal Code.

Defence counsel, Moses Ugwummadu, urged the court to grant his client bail, assuring that a reliable surety would be provided if bail is granted.

The judge, Mohammed Marafa, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000, with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the matter until March 12, for hearing. (NAN)
