A 28-year-old house wife, Oluwatoyin Oyagoke, yesterday, admitted pouring hot water on her pregnant neighbour, 28-year-old Rukayat Salami Osuolale, when she pleaded guilty to a count charge of attempted murder levelled against her before Court 4 of Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos.
The accused, Nigerian Pilot learnt, had engaged the victim in a heated argument while they were both in the kitchen.
It was also learnt that the accused had poured the hot water on the victim who was also cooking noodles for her husband.
The victim, who is carrying six months pregnancy, is said to be on admission at the Truman and Burns Department of Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos.
The Police had alleged that the accused had on Friday, about 9p.m., at 3, Gbagada road, Gbagada, in Somolu Local Government Area, Lagos, attempted to kill the victim, Mrs. Salami Osuolale, by pouring hot water on her face, chest and breast.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, Sergeant Benedict Aigbokhan, is contrary to and punishable under section 228 of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
The accused pleaded guilty to the one count charge.
Consequently, the presiding magistrate, Mrs. D. A. Erinle ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody pending when the court will review the facts of the matter.
The Magistrate adjourned the matter till Wednesday, October 14 further hearing.
