Reconstruction and rehabilitation of two major Nike roads in Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, the 2km Nike road and 3.6km Nike Lake road will commence simultaneously in August, Speaker of the state Assembly, Edward Ubosi, has said.
Ubosi, who disclosed this yesterday when members of Nike Federated Town Union led by their traditional ruler, Igwe Julius Nnaji, Odezuligbo III of Nike, paid him a courtesy call, said by the first week of August, work would commence on the roads.
The two roads were among the eight capital projects added to the amended and revised 2015 appropriation approved by the House for the executive.
Ubosi, who was happy with the visit by his kinsmen, solicited for the support and prayers of his people for him to succeed in office.
He expressed joy that for the first time, an Nkanu man and particularly, a Nike man is the speaker of the House and thanked God for the privilege.
“I am happy for the honour done to me today. It was God that gave me the honour and privilege. This is the first time an Nkanu and a Nike man is presiding as the speaker of the House,” Ubosi noted.
Spokesman of the association, Chief Thomas Nnamene, prayed God to give him the wisdom of Solomon to pilot the affairs of the House.
“We thank God that you were found worthy to be the speaker. May God give you the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the House,” he said and urged him to be prayerful.
Igwe Julius Nnaji presented the speaker with a framed picture of Jesus Christ with his twelve apostles at the last supper.
