Director-General of the National
Sports Commission, Gbenga
Elegbeleye who was sacked by
the presidency last week has been
replaced by Al-Hassan Yakmut who
now serve as acting director general
of the National Sports Commission,
NSC.
Nigerian Pilot sports gathered that
the Secretary to the Government of
the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim
has been hiding the sack letter of the
erstwhile Director General for reasons
best known to him, a situation that
sparked rumour among journalist
and staff of the commission.
President Jonathan had on
April 15, directed the SGF to sack
Elegbeleye for offences bothering on
insubordinations.
The Acting DG, Yakmut is the
most senior technocrat in the Sports
Commission. A statement by the
Media Aide to the Minister of Sports,
Patrick Omorodion, said Yakmut’s
appointment is in keeping with the
tradition of appointing a technocrat
to head the Commission.
An ex-volleyball player, Yakmut,
holds a Bachelors Degree in Physical
and Health Education from Ahmadu
Bello University, Zaria and a Masters
Degree from Obafemi Awolowo
University, Ile-Ife
