A non-governmental organisation Popularly known as Himma Community Health Circle Initiative and empowerment (H-COHEIC), in Zamfara State has concluded arrangement to empower over 50, 000 people mainly Youths in Zamfara State under the pet project of the daughter of the Zamfara state governor, Hajiya Zainab Yari aimed at the provision of comprehensive healthcare services and youth empowerment in the state.
The coordinator of the initiative, Hajiya Samina Ankac made this known in a statement after a meeting among the members of the organisation on how best the programme could be carried out successfully in Gusau the state Capital.
According to her, the initiative had approached and received the support of other NGOs and Community Based, CBOs, to ensure successful implementation of the program in the state.
She further stated that, the exercise which would be commence through the launching of a book on November 7, in collaboration with the state government and the UNICEF is expected to start with over 50, 000 beneficiaries selected from the 14 local government areas of the state.
“although we are going to give emphasis on women and children, men are also going to benefit as the blueprint is also aimed at empowering our people for sustainable development and self-reliance,” she stated
She further informed that, the benefiting women and children would have unhindered access to health services while both the young and old would be trained in various skills of their chosen trades after which they would be supported to stand on their own.
Earlier, the Media Strategy Officer of the initiative, Eunice Sokua said the book launch would be a step to further create awareness among the people of the state so that more beneficiaries would be enrolled towards the betterment of the state and the nation.
She said, a strategic monitoring mechanism had been put in place towards the successful implementation of the scheme.
