Zamfara State Agency for Community and Social Development Project has disbursed the sum of N680 million to various communities for the execution of over 305 developmental projects that have direct bearing for them across the 14 local government areas of the state, at the end of the Agency’s first phase of the projects in 2013.
This was made known by the General Manager of the Agency, Alh Garba A. Muhammad while fielding questions from newsmen in Gusau the state capital yesterday.
He said, the Agency had expended the sum of over N1 billion, which was received from the World Bank assisted projects programmes from 1999 to 2013, as part of the first phase of the projects to various communities across the state.
He said the Agency presently had over 66 communities that reached the requirement and disbursed their 10% counterpart fund for the second phase of this year’s projects.
He said one of the responsibilities of the Agency was to go round every nook and cranny of the state to monitor which project the community needed for formal approval.
He explained that Zamfara State government had released the sum of N200 million as part of its counterpart funding for the second phase of the projects to the agency to take up its primary assignment.
The general manager further stated that on August 18, the Agency would get the final approval from the World Bank assisted projects scheme for the second phase of community and social development projects, through the national body of the Agency for proper implementation in the state.
He called on local government areas in the state to patronise the commitment of the Agency in order to assist and develop their local communities through the Agency.
