With top-of-its-class 13 mega-pixel front and rear cameras, Toshiba sensor and an 88 degree wide angle Largan lens, ASUS ZenFoneSelfie is the most detailed selfie phone in the market yet, says Simplice Zaongo, Nigeria Country Manager, ASUS.
Speaking at an interactive forum with the press in Lagos recently, Zaongo said: “Taking good photos is now an essential part of every smartphone experience but most devices deliver better results on the rear camera than the front. Because of this, selfies are often grainy, noisy and underwhelming. The ZenFoneSelfie is bringing ASUS’ high-end imaging performance, known as PixelMaster 2.0, to both sides of the phone with a killer combination of top-notch hardware and software to give users amazing images every time, no matter what.”
“The front camera boasts a top-of-its-class 13 megapixel Toshiba sensor with an 88-degree wide angle Largan lens, providing the most detailed selfies of any phone on the market. On the rear side, the back camera is also fitted with a 13 megapixel resolution and virtually no shutter lag. It comes with ultrafast 0.2 second laser auto-focus and macro shot up to 6cm for incredible detail in close-up shots. Throw in f/2.0 aperture for low-light capture, 1080p video recording and manual controls, selfie lovers will never have to worry about taking a horrible picture again,” he added.
ASUS ZenFoneSelfie is built to provide amazing performance, fantastic hardware and customizable software to fit every quirk of the imagination. It is an innovative blend of fashion, technology and craftsmanship captured in a 5.5 inch smartphone that fits in the body of a traditional 5 inch. With Super HDR technology, Real Tone dual-LED flash and an aperture of f/2.2, users are also able to improve light balance by 400% and get clear shots in poor light conditions.
As photo opportunities often come in the blink of an eye, selfie lovers can gain quick access to the camera’s front-facing picture mode by drawing an S on the display when the phone screen is turned off. If they would rather use a different gesture, they can easily create one of their own in the settings.
Laser auto focus is also one of the standard features on the Selfie. It uses a laser beam to measure the distance between the individual and their subject so quickly that it takes virtually no time at all to get in focus. It even accelerates close-up photography, compensating for the extra distance created by the lens receding during framing.
Zaongo notes that the experience gets more exciting with several options to customize the look and feel of the shot. According to him: “The camera is set by default to Beautification mode, which gives users the ability to brighten and soften skin, balance facial features, remove skin blemishes, thin cheeks and add blush. Most of these software capabilities can be viewed in real-time, so selfie lovers can make sure they like the way they look before taking the shot.”
The ZenFoneSelfie hardware design offers a more instinctive way for human interaction. It encompasses a physical rear key as part of the Ergonomic Arc design with a case that tapers to an incredibly thin 3.9mm at the edges. The rear-mounted volume-control and shutter button is ideally positioned for the index finger, so snapping selfies, adjusting volume and retracing steps feel as natural as a grip.
Selfie features the industry’s first octa-core, 64-bit processor — Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615. Its superb performance and superior power efficiency, ensures that users can shoot sharp photographs at stupefying speed, record and edit Full HD (1080p) video with minimal battery draw and enjoy using the integrated Category 4 4G/LTE to share everything at incredible download speeds of up to 150Mbit/s. A solid 3,000mAh removable battery also guarantees more than an entire day of talk time on the average.
Additionally, users get to enjoy a pair of ergonomically designed ASUS ZenEar headphone, which provide a perfect fit and crystal clear and detailed sound. It is built with a patented damping system to effectively absorb reflected sound and reduce distortion while restoring many audio details previously lost. Each ZenFoneSelfie comes with Optimal Speech Recognizer, a voice recognition feature with an error rate rivaling the best iOS and Android flagships currently in the market.
ASUS ZenFoneSelfie runs on Android Lollipop and comes with a tailor made, exclusive user interface known as ZenUI. There are plenty of privacy options as well. Kids Mode converts the Selfie into a protected area of education and entertainment for children, complete with built-in parental controls and a timer to limit how much time children can use the phone.
Private communication, such as messages and contacts, can be kept separate and secure using a PIN code. Snap view features independent spaces for work and personal life, giving the phone users the ability to manage both areas of their lives without having to combine them in the same space.
The ZenFoneSelfie is available at Slot, Park N Shop, Konga, Genuss, Onyx and Jumia.
